Senior picture information

Seniors,

Many students and parents have been asking about deadlines for Senior Pictures for yearbooks. Seniors are in the unique position of submitting their own photos for yearbook but are unsure of what can or needs to be turned in. Furthermore, there is confusion about the relationship we have with the studios of Cilento Photography, located near Polaris Fashion Place. Hopefully this letter clears up any initial confusion.

Seniors have their portraits printed in two different locations, the yearbook and the composite photo. The composite photo is the collection of senior pictures that hangs in the hallways of our building for the community to see when visiting the building. Most of them are hanging in the hallway adjacent to the auditorium, but the newer ones hang in the main hallway near the office. The time and resources for this are provided by Cilento. In order for seniors to have their picture included on the composite photo, they must have their portrait taken by the photographers at Cilento. They offer a very reasonably priced studio session at their studio for taking this picture. These sessions are only $10. They offer more complete photo sessions as well if you want. If you do not get your picture for the composite there, they come to the building in the late winter/early spring to get as many of the remaining pictures of seniors as possible at no charge. To make an appointment with Cilento, or for more details about the sessions they provide, you can contact via the information below.

For the yearbook, seniors can choose any reasonable picture for their yearbook photo. Head and shoulders (close up) portraits work best, but the picture is of your choosing. This portrait can be from a photographer/studio of your own choosing. When placing senior pictures in the yearbook, we choose the picture according to the following order:

  1. Student submitted photograph
  2. Portraits provided from Cilento
  3. Lifetouch Portraits (Picture Day)

Generally, if there is a specific portrait that you want in the yearbook, you will be entitled to have it placed in the yearbook, just tell us which photo you would like us to use. Once you decide on the picture you want in the yearbook, please give to either myself or a yearbook staff member. Your picture can be emailed or you can bring in a wallet size photo. If your photographer asks, the picture should be 2” x 3” and 450 ppi resolution.

Due dates for telling the yearbook staff which picture you want in the yearbook has not been set yet but will likely be late winter/early spring. However, as we all know due dates seem to sneak up us from time to time, so please get them in as soon as possible. When the due dates are set, seniors and their families will be notified accordingly.

I hope this helps clear up questions about senior pictures. If you do have any questions, feel free to come see me during the day. I have also provided my contact information below for you and your families.

Sincerely,
Brian Wetzel, Yearbook Advisor
